1985 Porsche 962 Poster

Regular price $26.00
The Porsche 956/962 family made the Weissach-based manufacturer a formidable force in sportscar racing for the best part of a decade, and ensured Porsche was the target at which rivals aimed for several seasons. It would take concerted efforts by the like of Electramotive Nissan, TWR Jaguar and Sauber Mercedes to overthrow 962s in the World Sportscar Championship and IMSA, because even when not works cars, the 962s were run by immensely professional customer outfits, burgeoning with talented drivers, engineers, mechanics and tacticians. It was one such customer squad that scored the 962’s first 24-hour win in 1985 at Daytona, but victory did not go to the Holbert Racing squad that had chalked up five wins in the back half of the ’84 IMSA season. No, at the culmination of a strange race, it was Preston Henn’s car, as illustrated here, that with the aid of a remarkable driver line-up – A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, Bob Wollek and Thierry Boutsen – delivered the goods at Daytona.
