The car was different; the result was the same… Wayne Taylor Racing switched from Cadillac to Acura for the 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, but didn’t miss a beat.
WTR’s No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 DPi made its debut in the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona, driven by a star-studded lineup of Filipe Albuquerque, Ricky Taylor, Helio Castroneves and Alexander Rossi.
After qualifying fifth for the twice-around-the-clock classic, the team quickly got into a groove that saw the ARX-05 leading for 337 race laps, including the all-important 807th and final one. It was WTR’s fourth overall Rolex 24 win in the last five years, and the first for Acura.
To commemorate the victory at Daytona International Speedway, RACER’s in-house artist Paul Laguette has created his own bold take on the blue and black machine. Lights on and brakes glowing as it cuts through the Florida night, it’s a high-speed homage to WTR’s enduring success and a superb addition to any sports car racing fan’s wall.
